Morbegno (c) Verein Alpenstadt des Jahres

Morbegno is the "Alpine Town of the year" 2019

Morbegno in the Italian region of Lombardy is awarded "Alpine Town of the Year" in 2019.  The committed small town in the Veltlin Valley near Lake Como is rich in history and culture and an insider tip among "slow tourism" lovers. It has dealt with the topics of the Alpine Convention and has identified important themes for the future. The town with around 12,000 inhabitants promotes regional agriculture and sustainable energy supply from district heating. Its long-term and environmentally friendly spatial planning, the renovation of historic buildings, modern green energy development and the promotion of mountain agriculture makes it an Alpine town par excellence.
